RAPMANIA is my baby, my thought and creation which was a first for Hip Hop. As a matter of fact it was the first black music event ever held on Pay Pay View television. Many of you may know me as Vansilk, but most know me as one of the purest Hip Hop Historian and Pioneer around. I created two historical Hip Hop events almost 25 years ago... Rapmania and Sisters In The Name of Rap; both aired on national television. In the beginning before rap was on wax as one of the early Hip Hop/Rap Promoters from 1980 to 1992, there were many of us that were never mentioned who helped in promoting this culture as promoters. People like Disco King Mario,M. Morton Hall, Winston Saunders, Spark Martin, Ray Chandler, Mike and Dave, The Dow Twins, Kool DJ AJ, Brothers Disco, Rudy at Godfather Productions, Arthur Armstrong, Mandiplite, Tiny Woods, Nubian Productions (Zulu Nation) Kenny Ken and the K-Connection, RC Pac Jam aka Vansilk, Sal Abott and there were many more who contributed to marketing this culture from its inception. The early days were hard, but fun and a lot of people don't like to give props, but my teacher who got me started was Kool DJ AJ. Before 1980 I was considered the flyer guy who handed out flyers for promoters until I decided to do my own parties at clubs like Harlem World, T-Connection, Broadway International, Bronx Skating Rink and Disco Fever. I was the first promoter owner Sal of Disco Fever let me come in to promote parties at the Skate Key plus I.S 201, Celebrity Club, The Ponderossa to even doing parites in Queens with Mike and Dave at Martin Van Buren High School and The Jamaica Rollerdome then venturing out to Brooklyn to do parties at Empire Skating Rink. However, the ultimate was becoming the main Friday night promoter at the hottest place in town, Roxy's Skating Rink. After Rap or shall I say Hip Hop started to change, it was time for something bigger and that's when I came up with the creation of putting Hip Hop on television for concerts. And today 25 years later we now have two historical events in Rapmania-The 15th Anniversay of Hip Hop and Sisters In The Name of Rap- Rapfest 1
So as you visit this website please do understand that it took alot of time and Knowledge to put this together. Some people may not understand that Hip Hop is now a global music genre and the only music genre in different languages.

RAPMANIA can never be duplicated with this line up ever in no lifetime unless you are willing to spend 10 million dollars. 3rd BASE also performed at this historical events which in toatal their were 55 acts. BIG DADDY KANE performed in front of no one due to the fact he had a prior show of the taping so his part was his reherasal. GREAT JOB KANE. GRANDMASTER CAZ from the COLDCRUSH BROTHERS performed at RAPMANIA also doing a set showcasing his skills, and back in New York at the Apollo ERIC B & RAKIM performed "LET THE RHYTHM HIT EM" and as the show continue BIZ MARKIE performed also but like BIG DADDY KANE they rehearsal became their RAPMANIA performance due to the both was booked to performed the next day at a concert. And last but not least female rapper ROXANNE SHANTE performed not only at RAPMANIA but at SISTERS IN THE NAME OF RAP. She the only rap artist to have done both shows.
IICE T performs a medley of his hit at the Hollywood Palace while Hip Hop 1st Female DJ WANDA DEE woo the crowd with her sensual performance. Wanda Dee was way ahead of her time. KWAME also performed at the World Famous Apollo with the legends of Hip Hop and R.I.P to MC TROUBLE who was the 1st female rapper signed to Motown and ICE-T RHYME SYNDICATE!
Rapper DEF JEFF did his thing performing at this Historical event and at the time the hottest song out was by YOUNG MC called "BUST A MOVE". YOUNG MC performed at the Apollo which was his 1st time ever at the world famousr theatre and TONE LOC who was also hot on the charts performed at the Hollywood Palace. SLICK RICK did his now classic song "CHILDREN STORY" which had the crowd in a frenzy still rocking all his jewels.....RAPAMANIA 2017 COMNIG SOON!
As we move forward wit these historical performances KURTIS BLOW did a medley of his songs from BASKETBALL, THE BREAKS, IF I RULED THE WORLD. And LLCOOL J rocked the crowd with" JINGLING BABY" In all this was a historical event when it was thought of and now 25 years later we are working on RAPAMANIA! And we also added herethe complete show of RAPMAINA- the 15th ANNIVERSARY OF HIP HOP..
